Bahubali: The Begining was a declared hit, even before it had hit the big screens. Being advertised as the most expensive Indian movie ever made tends to have that effect. The storyline spanned generations and goes back and forth as per the requirement of the plot. The movie was the product of a very ambitious filmmaker who indulges in the act of breeding a stereotypical medieval drama along with a more ambitious overuse of VFX. No, I mean it. Really. Some of the scenes were extremely good, excellent to a certain point even but others just looked cartoonish. The scene where Shiva(Prabhas) tried to free is his mother(Anushka Shetty) and was escaping from the palace looked like Super Mario. And Super Mario, irrespective of how awesome it is, should not be the bar for the most expensive movie made in India. However, the battle scene when both Prabhas and Rana protected the borders of Mahismati from invasion was one of the fiercest and well-executed battle sequences in history.
The trailer for Bahubali 2 has released and reports reveal that it has become the most watched Indian trailer in a very short period of time. What viewers can expect from the movie is clarity on why Katappa killed Bahubali among other things. The sequel will be grand, even grander than the first in the franchise and will bring the series to a conclusion. The plot, which had seemed flat in the first movie could be expected to get better since the filmmaker has been done with the origin stories. And we might just get to watch the biggest visual spectacle of all time in Indian cinema.
