The national award winner filmmaker Deepak Roy died at the age of 67. The acclaimed filmmaker made a movie named “Limit to Freedom”, which got him national awards in 1996. The acclaimed filmmaker died on 11th January 2017.
Deepak Roy began his career as a Film Critics in 1974 and moved on to direction in 1982. He has a production house named “Angik Films”. He has been known for making more than 90 short films all produced his home production banner “Angik Films.” Deepak Roy died on 11th January 2017 after suffering cardiac arrest at his home.

Some of his most recognized work in the film-making is “Limit to Freedom”, “Dhanna”. Dhanna won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues in 1998. Dhanna is based on a real life story of a special boy, who is responsible for bringing water to his parched village in MP.
“Limit of Freedom” is another short movie directed by Deepak Roy that won the National Film Award for Best Investigative Film in 1995. The Limit of Freedom tells the story of the wretched troubles of the women prisoners of Tihar Jail and their bleak protest for better future if any.

Mr. Roy has also made highly praised and critically successful documentaries for the Sahitya Academy that includes the documentary based on acclaimed Hindi Poet Nagarjuna and Kedar Nath Singh.
Deepak Roy is survived by his wife Rita Shah and nephew Amit Roy. Amit Roy is a reputed cinematographer, who works mainly in Bollywood film industry.
