Alankrita Shrivastava’s movie ‘Lipstick Under My Burka’, after being featured in various International Film Festival is finally going to release in India. Earlier, the movie was not appreciated by the censor board and wasn’t given a pass. But now things have changed for the movie, it is scheduled to release on 21st July.
Alankrita went on Twitter to share the first poster of the movie. The poster looks impressive and something different. Alankrita, in an interview, said that the movie is from a female point of view, which we don’t see often in Bollywood these days.
She stated, “we still look female protagonist with a male eye in the movies, even in movie ‘Pink’ and movie ‘Dangal’, which were the biggest hits of last year, they have a strong female protagonist, but ultimately it was a male superstar who saves the women.”
She also said that the movie is releasing after travelling a long way, after winning awards. "I think the movie will be appreciated by the audience more now", she said.
These movies are slowly making a big impact in Bollywood, recently we saw Konkana Sen Sharma’s ‘A Death In The Gunj’, which also released after being appreciated in the Film Festivals. It might work for ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’, as it has great actors like Konkana Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak and Plabita Borthakur.
