‘Bank Chor’ and ‘Phullu’ released last weekend on 16th of June. Both the movie are completely different and targeted a different audience. ‘Bank Chor’, which is a comedy movie about a bank robbery, and stars Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi. ‘Phullu’, on the other hand, carries a social message.
The Weekend Collections of both the movies are not very impressive. As predicted, the movie has not done very well at the Box Office, ‘Bank Chor’ started with 1.40 crores on Friday, 1.66 crores on Saturday and 1.28 crores on Sunday, which is not bad, however, the movie could have done better if released on some other date. But considering the fact that ‘Bank Chor’ released with Punjabi’s most awaited movie ‘Super Singh’, it has done OK.
‘Super Singh’ with fewer screens earned double than ‘Bank Chor’. ‘Phullu’, on the other hand, with a very ordinary cast earned 1.37 crores till now. The movie opened with weak numbers of 40 lakhs on the first day, 45 lakhs on Saturday and 52 lakhs on Sunday, and it is a decent collection for the movie.
This week we will witness the arrival of Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’ in the theatres, and obviously, it is expected to open big.
The review of both the movies is very mixed, some people liked it, and some didn't. Riteish Deshmukh’s solo movies have never scored very well at the Box Office and ‘Banjo’ and ‘Bangistan’ are the examples of that. And now ‘Bank Chor’ received the same moderate response.
‘Phullu’ was not for Box Office collection, it was for spreading social awareness and its Box Office numbers are decent for the kind of film it is.
