JP Dutta, who is set to direct another war film ‘Paltan’ has signed actor Gurmeet Choudhary for his movie. He will be playing the role of an army officer in the movie. Earlier we heard the news that Abhishek Bachchan has joined the cast and now it’s Gurmeet Choudhary.
When Gurmeet was asked about that he said, “It’s a huge honour to work with a director like JP sir and to play an army officer is a dream come true for me. I always wanted to play an army officer as my father served for this country for several years. When I watched ‘Border’ back in the days, I was like, that’s it, that’s what I want to do”.
“I would love to play an army officer on the big screen, it will be a gift to my dad,” he said. Gurmeet has done some movies in the past like ‘Khamoshiyan’, ‘Mr. X’, ‘Wajah Tum Ho’ and ‘Laali Ki Shadi Mein Ladoo Deewana’ but he was never seen as the big deal in the Bollywood, he always did a supporting role and small films. ‘Paltan’ is certainly something which can relaunch him in the Industry .
Gurmeet made a name for himself through TV, he was one of the most popular TV actors at 2011-12. He did TV serials like ‘Ramayan’, ‘Geet’ and ‘Punar Vivah’
Recently, the first poster of the movie was released and it was damn impressive, the casting is still in its way, only Abhishek Bachchan and Gurmeet Choudhary are finalised for the movie, let’s see who’s next to join the project. Abhishek showed a lot of interest for this project, he even left Ronnie Screwvala’s movie for this one, the reason might be that JP Dutta was the one who launched him as an actor in ‘Refugee’.
