Earlier, it was reported that Irrfan Khan will play the role of the poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhiyanvi in the upcoming biopic by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but then his name slipped and Abhishek Bachchan came into play. Bhansali recently announced that he will be making a film on the love story of poet Amrita Pritam and Sahir Ludiyanvi. Deepika Padukone will play the role of Amrita in the movie.
Now, it would have interesting if Irrfan would play this role, he is an incredible actor, obviously better than Abhishek Bachchan. Irrfan finally spoke on the matter, he said, “I really want to play Sahir’s character. The offer comes to me and goes away, if I get the opportunity to play Sahir, I will definitely. But I don’t get the role it’s OK, I will continue to carry him in some way or the other”.
The actor also revealed that he was inspired by Sahir, and he loved his work back then. “His sensibility, his passion, his dedication, his sense of love and society moved me as a person and he plays a very important role in my life”, Irrfan said.
Now, knowing that this is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it’s obvious that it will be huge and Bhansali will make this in a huge way. Now, the male cast has not been finalized as of yet, its most likely be Abhishek Bachchan or Irrfan Khan, rumors also say that Shah Rukh Khan was approached for the movie but it’s hard to say that he will do this film.
Earlier, Priyanka Chopra was approached to play Amrita Pritam in the movie but due to her Hollywood projects she couldn’t and Deepika Padukone came, making this her fourth collaboration with SLB after ‘Ramleela’, Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Padmavati’.
