Know why Censor board banned these 14 controversial movies in India

The censor board has given instruction to blur love making scenes between Radhika Apte and Adil Hussain in upcoming movie Parched which is slated to release on 23rd September 2016. However, this is not the first case when Censor board has instructed some changes in films. Earlier many times Censor board has even banned the release of the films. There are many movies in Bollywood which have not been released because of the censor board. 1. Bandit Queen (1994) Director Shekhar Kapur's this film got banned by censor board because of its vulgar and incident content. The story of the film based on the real-life woman Phoolan Devi and the film got banned because of sexual content, nudity, and abusive language. 2. Kamasutra - A love of tale  Director Meera Nair's this film was based on Kamasutra. The film was totally opened about the sex and intimate scenes. The film showed the story of four lovers of the 16th century with the unethically. The film got loved by the film critics but censor board doesn't like it. After many controversies, censor board banned the film. 3. Fire (1996) In the film of Deepa Mehta called Fire it has been shown that two sisters-in-law are having a lesbian relationship. Many religious groups and party Shiv Sena opposed the film. Even Shabana Azmi, Deepa Mehta, and Nandita Das got threatened calls for killing them. After lots of controversies, the film got banned. 4. Black Friday (2004) Black Friday was the second movie of Anurag Kashyap which got banned by the censor board. The film was based on the novel of S. Hussain Zaidi and it revolves around 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. That time the case was running in court so High court stayed the film release. 5. Water (2005) It was the second movie of Deepa Mehta which faced controversy. The film is a story of the struggle for an Indian widow in the society. The film which shot in Varanasi's ashram was written by Anurag Kashyap. Censor board didn't understand this subject and the film also faced religious oppose. So finally the censor board had to ban the film. 6. Parzania (2005) The film based on Gujarat riots and many people liked and many criticized it. The film revolves around a boy Azhar who found missing in riots. However, Parzania won several awards but the film was not able to release in India. 7. Paanch (2003) Anurag Kashyap and censor board have an old rivalry which started from his first movie Paanch. The film based on Abhyankar Joshi murder case (1997). Censor board didn't pass the film because of its violence, abusive language, and drugs addiction. 8. Sins (2005) The film was based on Kerala's one priest who falls in love with a woman and they also started physical relations. How this priest continues his love despite the bondage of society and religion the whole story revolves around that. However, the film was released but by cutting several scenes. 9. The Pink Mirror (2003) The censor board didn't like this film The Pink Mirror directed by Sridhar Rangayan because this film had shown good things about a transsexual and gay teenager. The film got acclaimed all over the world but in India, the film got banned. 10. Firaq (2008) Firaq was the second movie which was based on Gujarat riots. According to the producers, the film was based on real incidents. Actress Nandita Das has to face lots of opposition because of this film and the film got banned that time. However, after some time this got released and got acclaimed a lot. 11. Urf Professior (2000) Director Pankaj Advani's film Urf Professor also didn't get a chance to save from censor board. Sharman Joshi, Manoj Pahwa and Antara Mali starring this movie not get passed because of its vulgar scenes and abusive language. 12. Insaallah Football (2010) Actually, it is a documentary made on a Kashmiri boy who wants to play football in foreign but he didn't get a chance to go outside just because his father is involved with terrorist activities. The main perspective of the film was to show problems of Kashmiri people but Kashmir is always a sensitive issue in India. 13. Dazed in Doon (2010) Doon school is one of the famous school in India. This film's story based on one boy's life who study in Doon school and then his life takes turning points. Doon school management didn't like the film because they felt it can affect the image of their school. 14. Un-Freedom (2015) The film is a story of a lesbian couple. The film has shown how they faced terrorists and whatever the changes comes in their life. There are lots of sensitive sex scenes in the film and that's why censor board didn't give permission to this film.
