Amid the lockdown followed by the novel coronavirus pandemic, people have been pushed to stay inside their homes and maintain social distance from the world outside. The entertainment industry, however, is leaving no stone unturned, in order to bring about a change in the quarantine lives of their audience. Where the shoots and releases are being canceled keeping in view the current situation of the world, people all around the world have resorted to online social media platforms for keeping themselves entertained and busy amid the bleak times.
In a recent initiative by Indian casting director Mukesh Chhabra and other prominent names Montoo Bassi, Maulik Bhagat and Neetu M Jain, a contest for a short 1-minute-long film was put forward wherein one can shoot and submit their films on their mobile while staying inside their homes. Besides this, famous filmmakers and producers, Sajid Nadiadwala, Aanand L Rai, Ekta Kapoor, Nitesh Tiwari and Dinesh Vijan came forward in support of the interesting initiative by contributing to present the short films with the public, by sharing the films on their social handles.
Interesting titled, “INDIA LET’S MAKE A FILM”, the initiative was announced by renowned Indian film director, Karan Johar. Along with, other important information regarding the topics, deadline, e-mail address and format, was also attached via the post tweeted and shared by film critic, Taran Adarsh and other prominent names. Six topics regarding the storyline of the short film were also attached, every topic relating to the current pandemic turning the world upside down. The deadline given for the short film is 21 April. The initiative is, however, doing rounds on the internet, as the public has been encouraged enough to bring forward a short film that would not only win but also spread around encouragement and awareness, as the films would be shot staying safe, inside one's home.
