Lipstick Under My Burkha” to be given ‘A’ certificate

After lots of controversies, finally, it seems that “Lipstick Under My Burkha” will get ‘A’ certificate. Finally, it seems that the makers of Lipstick Under My Burkha will be able to bring their films to the theater. The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) has told the CBFC to give ‘A’ certificate to the movie with some cuts and deletions of some scenes. The FCAT has noticed that the intimate scenes and curse words are very integral part of the film. The organization has also directed the makers to mute some of the Hindi words used in the movie, which also includes the words referring to prostitutes. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had completely refused to give any certification to the film “Lipstick Under My Burkha” saying, “Women in the film are shown in negative light, particularly targeting women of certain community which might hurt sentiments.” After the CBFC decision, the producer Prakash Jha and director Alankrita Srivastava had appealed in the FCAT. Responding to the appeal, The FCAT has observed, “The examining and revising committees of the CBFC have misdirected themselves in denying certification on the ground that the story of the film is women-oriented. There cannot be any embargo on a women-oriented film or one containing sexual fantasies and expression of the inner desires of women.” The makers of “Lipstick Under My Burkha” have agreed to the suggestions made by the tribunal and are ready to the cut some scenes. But the FCAT has also suggested some deletion in the intimate scenes “without affecting in any manner the projection and substance of the scene or in any manner affecting the basic film.” According to the reports, makers are bit confused about the ‘A’ certificate to the movie, but they are looking to play safe at the time.
