Bollywood actor Sunny Deol starrer film 'Mohalla Assi' is in controversy from a long time and still is not released. Central Board of Film Certification chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani has passed over all the responsibility for the certification of Mohalla Assi after the Delhi High Court sought the censor body’s response to an appeal by the makers of the banned Bollywood film.
In this appeal, Chandraprakash Dwivedi gave the challenges a denial of a certificate for public screening. Sunny Deol is playing the lead role in the film. This film is based on commercialisation of the pilgrimage city of Varanasi.
Nihalani said on this issue, 'Both the Examining Committee and Revising Committee refused to give this film a certificate. Now film went to the Tribunal (Film Certification Appellate Tribunal). I'm unaware of what is happening there to the film. When it comes to CBFC, the film that you are talking about, that is not in our hands.'
