Plot - Mukkabaaz is a story of a low caste boxer, Shravan. He works as a trainer in a gym owned by a Brahman an upper caste social strata named Bhagwan Das Misra and who happens to be a local Don. Shravan falls for Misra’s niece, Sunaina which seemed unacceptable by the Misra as Shravan hails from a lower caste and lower strata. Our hero, Shravan struggled to become a successful boxer to get his love, Sunaina while avoiding the ongoing retaliation from Misra, the local Don there.
Review: Directed and scripted by Anurag Kashyap, the movie seems to be one of the best works of Kashyap. The sequences are put brilliantly with the right amount of emotions, tenderness and the mix of violence in emotions. The timings, the pace, the expressions and all the characters fall at their place giving the perfect essence of a deep love story where the hero strives to own his love.
Apart from the love affair of our hero Shravan (Vineet Kumar Singh), the movie depicts the intense emotions in the character who has hatred for his father to disown him and selecting a really tough career of becoming a boxer. All the feeling and sensitiveness have been expressed so well in the story. The Don played by Jimmy Shergill showcased the hatred for the lower caste people and protectionist for the female of the family.
The cinematography, small town set up, the Boxing fights all are well tuned and rightly paced to applause to the movie team. The movie has a newcomer Zoya Hussain as the female lead.
Why to Watch:The movie has all attributes to pull you to the theatre. The foremost is the director Anurag Kashyap’s name attached to it, so the quality has to be good. The characters seemed to justify their roles. The boxing sequences, as well as the emotional and social drama; all are the good entertainer in the movie.
