After much speculation on Neil Nitin Mukesh's role in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Indu Sarkar,' it is finally confirmed that the actor will essay the role of Sanjay Gandhi in the film, based on the 1975 Emergency. While the film has the name Indu in its title, it was earlier communicated that the film will not have a direct reference to the late prime minister, Indira Gandhi.
Both the actor and the director were tight-lipped about the former's character portrayal, but the recently leaked image confirms Neil's role as Sanjay Gandhi. Supriya Vinod will be seen playing Indira Gandhi in the flick.

Earlier, the director had met Subramanian Swamy and exchanged notes on Emergency with him. While the film has the name Indu in its title, it is believed that the movie will not have a direct reference to the late PM, Indira Gandhi. Also, music composers Anu Malik and Bappi Lahiri are coming together for the first time to create music for Indu Sarkar. The film has Delhi as a backdrop and will be shot in the national capital, Mumbai, and Pune. The National Award-winning director, Madhur has planned to wrap up the movie in 35-40 days.
