The supreme court in his decision on Tuesday has cleared that audiences do not have to stand if the national anthem is a part of film, documentary, and show reel in cinemas. Justice Deepak Misra and R. Banumati's bench give this verdict after a PIL. Shyam Narayan Chokasi demanded that the national anthem should not be played before every movie through a PIL in Supreme Court.
On Tuesday, Supreme Court said that there is no law for this matter in the country but what the petitioner has raised the issue it should be discussed. The court has given 14th April date for next hearing. Let me tell you that last year Supreme Court gave a verdict in which it has stated that all the audiences have to stand before playing national anthem in the cinema hall. Supreme Court even told that a flag will be necessary to show a national flag on the silver screen.
However, after Supreme court's verdict, many cases came in front in which people got beaten for not standing in the honor of national anthem. During Dangal film screening the same case came to in notice when an elder person got beaten for not standing during the national anthem.
Even the Bollywood celebrities raised questions that how can be national anthem is necessary for theaters before screening. Even Twinkle Khanna said how can I feel patriotism if I am watching Ranveer Singh in padded underwear.
