A few months ago, the first look poster of ‘The Good Maharaja’ was dropped, it featured Sanjay Dutt as the Maharaja and we were excited to see him doing a period film, but now it looks like we will not see him in the film. The recent report says that Sanjay Dutt has left the film due to his other work. Sanjay made his return in Bollywood after two years with Omung’s ‘Bhoomi’, where he was appreciated for his performance and now Sanjay has more than three films in hand.
The report also says that Omung has put the project on hold after the exit of Sanjay Dutt and that might not be the only reason, recently we came to know that another filmmaker will be making a movie on the same subject and that filmmaker is none other than Ashutosh Gowariker, who directed historical movies like ‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Mohenjo Daro’, it is not a shock that this subject attracted him.
The other reason for putting the movie on hold might be that the successors of the Maharaja claimed that Omung didn’t take the permission to make the movie and send him the legal notice. Omung previously directed movies like ‘Sarabjit’, ‘Mary Com’ and ‘Bhoomi’.
Well, this would have been Omung’s first-period film and it would have interesting to see that but now we have to wait. Sanjay, on the other hand, is busy with the shooting of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3’, where he will be playing the role of the gangster, and after that he will be working on the highly anticipated ‘Munna Bhai 3’, which Rajkumar Hirani will start after he is done with Sanjay Dutt’s biopic.
