Priyanka Chopra is producing a lot of regional movies lately. Currently, she has six movies under her production house. Recently, her Sikkimese produced film ‘Phauna’ unveiled its poster at Cannes Film Festival.
However, her Bengali film ‘Nalini’, which will show the relationship of Rabindranath Tagore and his teacher Annapurna Atmaram, gets in trouble. The news is coming that they had a kissing scene in the movie which was offensive to members of Visva Bharati University, Kolkata.
A member of the committee stated that the scenes are unnecessary. “We will take legal actions, but that’s the last choice, there’s no proof of their authenticity like the director claims”, they said.
The team, on the other hand, said, “The story is about infatuation so, the scene is important, there’s nothing to get offended here. We knew this was a bold movie for us and has to get permissions because certain communities would be touchy about it,”.
Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra stated that they haven’t created the story; there are books on the subject. “People need to understand that we don’t intend to disrespect anyone, we will do justice to the subject and will bring the actual story in front of them,” she said.
Priyanka Chopra hasn't reacted on the matter as of yet, as she is busy with her International projects in the USA. She was last seen with Dwayne Johnson in ‘Baywatch’, and now she is preparing for the third season of ‘Quantico’.
