Bollywood director Kundan Shah, who was known for his cult classic movie ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ passed away on Saturday morning to a heart attack. The director was 69 years old.
In his career of movie making, he gave ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ (1983), ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ (1993, ‘Kya Kehna’ (2000) and ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’ (2002). He was also known for popular TV shows like ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ in 1984 ‘Nukkad’ (1986) and ‘Wagle Ki Duniya’ (1988). And his last movie was ‘P se PM Tak’ that released in 2014.
Kundan Shah studied at the Film and Television Insitute of India, Pune and along with his peers, he introduced the satirical comedy genre in Hindi cinema. ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron’ was his first movie as a director and is still considered as one of the cult classics of Hindi cinema.
He won many awards in his career which included the National Film Award, Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director for the ‘Jane Bhi Do Yaaro’. The moviemaker will always be remembered for his great contribution to Indian Cinema, may his soul rest in peace.
