Nepotism is one of the biggest issues in Bollywood, there always been a question of star kids getting the easy entry in the Industry, while others have to work their way to even get one chance. The casting director Mukesh Chhabra has his own view on the matter, he said that he disagrees with the notion that star kids get the entry just because of their background, he added that if they have the talent they should get work.
Well, Mukesh is the one who discovered actors like Zaira Wasim, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Rajkummar Rao and Sushant Singh Rajput, he said that for every film they have a different process of casting a talent, for ‘Dangal’ they had to test 1400 children. “For every film, you have to sit and argue with the team because everyone has their own point of view regarding which artist to be chosen”, he said.
He recently announced that he will be making his directorial debut with ‘Fault In The Stars’, which will be the Hindi remake of 2014 American rom-com of the same name, it will star Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. However, not much is known about the project right now and Mukesh is busy with his casting couch.
He also said that it is very important to understand what the movie demands from him, for ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’, he went to Bihar for the actors, for ‘Dangal’, he went to Punjab and Haryana for the actors, that’s his criteria of casting. Undoubtedly, he is one of the biggest casting directors in Bollywood right now, he has made his own identity as a casting director, which very few have done.
