The trend of recreating the chartbusters of the 1990s' films is becoming too hot! The year started with Dharma Productions 'Hamma Hamma', the immensely popular song of Mani Ratnam's 1995 film Bombay, in Shaad Ali's Ok Jaanu. It continued to follow the trend in Shashank Khaitan's Badrinath Ki Dulhania with 'Tamma Tamma Again', a tribute to the original song of the 1990 film Thanedar.
Now, producer Jayantilal Gada seems to have taken a page out of the Dharma playbook by recreating 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' from Rajiv Rai's 1994 film Mohra in director duo Abbas-Mustan's upcoming romantic thriller, The Machine. While the original version starred Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar, the new one will see Kiara Advani and Abbas' son Mustafa pay tribute to their favorite stars.
On the other hand, when Kumar got to know about the song being rehashed, he offered to launch the song. As per the reports, Abbas-Mustan was quoted as saying, "Once we got the rights to remake the song, we called Akshay, who was shooting in Bhopal. We told him that we're using his super hit song in our film. He was not only very happy to hear that, but he also said that he would do everything to promote it. In fact, he also promised, that whenever the song is ready, he would launch it."
The Machine will mark Mustafa's acting debut. It is slated to release on 17 March. Watch the teaser of its version of 'Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast' below.
